Best who also served as emcee that evening reading from their own work. And from Ottawa, you’ll hear Ellen Chang-Richardson launching and reading from their debut collection, “Blood Belies.”

June 28, 2024, 4-5pm – first hour of a two hour show featuring, from a May 16th event at Novel Idea Bookstore, you’ll hear a celebration and launch of the second edition of Michaela Murphy-Poole’s “The Gifts of Cancer” (first published in 2016).  Inspired by her mother Maryellen’s long fight with cancer, Murphy-Poole’s book weaves her writings on that with pages from Maryellen’s journal.  Fiction writer and collage artist Diane Schoemperlen, who helped edit the book, emceed that evening with her own thoughts.
